2009 Report from the Masters Chair=

 

2009 was of year of limited growth and managing numero= us problems and roadblocks  for new programs. It was the first year of my new four year t= erm.

 

The development work on our own website is complete but acceptance by the National Office is stalled.

 

We began filming a membership increase film in coopera= tion with the National Office. It will be completed in 2010 along with an implementation program.

 

I began the year with a blog intended to replace month= ly email updates. This was a failure as most continued to be drawn to other bl= ogs and web sites. I reinstated the email on October 15th.

 

We will finish the year within budget and in general o= ur finances are in order.

 

USA Masters Championships were conducted for:

 

1. Indoor Championships were held in Landover, MD in March 20-22 with 1000 competitors, a natio= nal indoor championship record.

2. August 15-16 the Combined Events Championships were conducted in Shoreline, WA.

3. July 9-12, I traveled to Oshkosh, WI for our Outdoor Championships where approximately 900 athletes competed.

4. August 22-23, 2009, Portland, OR the Throws Championships were contested.

 

In July I attended the World Masters Athletics Champio= nships in Lahti F= inland where the USA team of 270 athletes competed.
