WEST REGION COORDINATOR’S REPORT TO THE EXECUTIVE

COMMITTEE OF MASTERS TRACK AND FIELD - 2009

The Masters West Region Tra= ck & Field Championships were held June 20-21, 2009 at Soka= University of America, Aliso Viejo, CA.  We had fourteen officials the firs= t day and ten officials on the second day with approximately<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  260 athletes competing.  The cost of officials increased ag= ain this year totaling $1800.00, which along with a high cost of facilities may make future region championships questionable.  Even though the West Region Meet is about the largest region championship, the cost are exceeding more than off -setting the entry fees.   This dilemma could use some serious attention.&= nbsp; Special thanks to the SoCal Track Club f= or putting on the meet for the sixth time. The West Region is planning its fir= st T & F Clinic this fall.

ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS WITHI= N THE REGION

Arizona held an Association Championsh= ip on June 20, 2009 at Mesa Community College, Mesa, Arizona.

Hawaii held an Association Championsh= ip in conjunction with the Aloha State Games on July 18, 2009.<= /p>

Pacific Association held its Association Championships on June 15, 2009 at Praire City Stadium, Folsom, <= st1:State w:st=3D"on">California.=

Southern California Association Championships were held on June 6, 2009 at Soka University of America, Aliso Viejo, CA.

The following Associations did not hold Masters Champions= hips in 2009:

Central California

Nevada

New Mexico

San Diego / Imperial
