Masters Track & Field
Chair Report - December, 2010 - Gary Snyder
The 2010 Annual Meeting in frigid Virginia Beach is now history. Most of us returned nearly on time despite some nasty weather across the country and became immediately immersed in holiday preparations.
On a personal note I have moved to my secret training location in Florida until April and have taken some time to regroup for 2011.
The Annual Meeting is always an opportunity to renew old friendships and mix it up with our leaders. I want to thank the entire Masters T&F Committee for a very informative and productive meeting despite the schedule being one day shorter than previous years. We have the best damn Executive Committee in USATF so when you see one of them let them know you appreciate what they are doing on your behalf.
Some highlights of the meeting:
The committee voted to accept a bid to return to Landover MD for the 2013 indoor championships.
There were three bids for the outdoor meet and the committee voted to go to Olathe KS for the 2013 outdoor championships.
The membership recruitment film Forever Fast is complete and was viewed by a spell bound audience that broke into loud applause at the end. The national roll out will begin in the first quarter of 2011.
As a result of competition rules that passed two events have been added to our championship meets in future years. They are the 4x200 indoor relay and shuttle hurdle outdoors.
Drug testing is still scheduled for the Outdoor Championship meet in July
See you on the track!
