2002 USATF Annual Meeting - IAAF Nominations

At the 2002 USATF Annual Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri, delegates have the responsibility of electing an IAAF delegate and three alternates, and electing candidates to be placed in nomination by USATF for positions on the IAAF Council, including IAAF Officers and for chairs and members of all IAAF committees.

Eligibility for IAAF Positions

A candidate for an IAAF officer position must also be a candidate to be an IAAF Council member. A candidate for the chairperson of an IAAF committee must also be a candidate to be a member of that committee. With the foregoing exceptions, no individual shall be nominated by USATF for more than one (1) position in any IAAF election.

Nominators and Seconders

Per Bylaws Article 9-E-2-b: Each candidate may have up to a maximum of five (5) nominators. The nominations must be collectively seconded by at least ten (10) and no more than twenty (20) other members of those nominating constituencies listed above, and include the written approval of the nominee.

Forms

Pre-Annual Meeting Nominations Activity

By Tuesday, August 6 (120 days before the meeting begins), the Nominations Subcommittee of the Member Services Committee will have nominations information and forms distributed to the persons and groups listed above under "Nominating Members of USATF."

By Sunday, October 5 (60 days before the meeting begins), nominations are due back to the Chair of the Nominations Subcommittee (they must be received in the National Office by Monday, October 6). Send the completed forms to Bob Langenbach, c/o Sherry Quack, USA Track & Field, One RCA Dome, Suite 140, Indianapolis, IN 46225-1023. In order to make the deadline, nominations may be faxed to Sherry at 317-261-0513; however, the original nomination form must be sent within 10 days of the fax transmission.

By Monday, November 4 (30 days before the meeting begins), the subcommittee shall prepare a nominations report listing all eligible candidates in alphabetical order, without indicating preference, and circulate it to all nominees and all nominating constituencies listed above. The report will also be included in each delegate's package and shall contain a statement provided by each candidate.

Annual Meeting Nominations and Elections Activity

At the Annual Meeting, further nominations may be submitted to the registration desk prior to the scheduled start of the First General Session on Thursday, December 5 and must be on the standard nomination form. This requirement includes the maximum of five (5) nominators and collectively at least ten (10) and no more than twenty (20) seconders. A committee member will be assigned to collect the nominations prior to the First General Session.

First round balloting shall take place on Saturday, December 7 from 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. Results of elected persons and still contested positions will be posted on-site at 11:30 a.m., or as soon as possible. Bylaws Article 9-E-4-e governs protests.

Second round balloting, if necessary, shall take place on Saturday, December 7 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Results will be posted on-site at 4:30 p.m. or as soon as possible.

Third round balloting, if necessary, shall take place on Saturday, December 7 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Results will be posted on-site as soon as possible.
