2016 Emerging Elite Coaches Camp

U.S. Emerging Elite coaches will be selected to attend and participate in USATF Elite Men’s and Women’s THROWS/SPRINTS/HURDLES/JUMPS/ENDURANCE/JUMPS camps. Coaches are responsible for travel expenses and CAMP FEE OF $575 for double occupancy and $750 for single occupancy (in off-site Hotel). Camp fee includes tuition, housing & meals at the OLYMPIC TRAINING CENTER.  Payment is due within 72 hours after acceptance via online payment link. Payment link is provided at time of acceptance.   USATF/USOC will provide transportation to and from the San Diego Airport. USATF master coach educators along with USATF’s resident coaching staff at the Olympic Training Center will serve as instructors. Coaches should only apply if you can arrive by 12:00 noon on JUNE 20th, check in Hotel by 1:30pm (first camp session is 2:30pm) and not travel home until JUNE 23rd. You must check out of the Hotel on June 23rd by 11:00 AM. Camp will close at 1:00pm and lunch is included. Parking is free at the Olympic Training Center. Hotel is 10-minute drive from the OTC.

The Emerging Elite Coaches will:

  • Be a member of USATF and the USATF Coaches Registry
  • Attend and observe all classroom and field sessions in the respective event;
  • Participate in Coaches Rap Sessions;
  • Receive all camp handouts and complete follow-up evaluation; and
  • Participate in informal discussions before/between/after sessions with staff, and other coaches.

Coaches will be selected based on their proven abilities to develop athletes in their respective event(s) to State/ National levels, and their projected potential to develop future Olympic medalists. This is to inspire and aid the education of current elite HIGH SCHOOL, CLUB, AND COLLEGE coaches toward being among the nation’s finest developers of athletes to Olympic Games and World Championships medalist levels in respective events.

Five Emerging Elite coach grants will be awarded, $550, to be selected by May 1, 2016. Please indicate in your cover letter with the submission of your application, your interest in a grant and provide a two paragraph statement of how you choose to use you camp experience in enhancing your coaching. YOU MUST BE AN ACTIVE COACH at the College or High school level to apply for a grant. Grant covers tuition, shared room and board. All travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicants.

Final acceptance will be by May 1st. All event groups will be conducted based on numbers of qualified applicants!
