Measurement News – USATF/RRTC Newsletter
Measurement News was, for many years, the official newsletter of the USATF Road Running Technical Council, which oversees the USATF Course Certification Program. MN is no longer being published at this time, as its role as a communications vehicle has been largely replaced by the RRTC Course Measurement Bulletin Board. The following links allow downloading all issues of MN from 2002 to 2006 (all in Adobe PDF format). For issues earlier than 2002, see our note below.
Downloadable Issues of MN:
About earlier MN issues: All issues of Measurement News are available now as part of an Extensive Collection of RRTC Historical Material which has been posted on the RunScore.com site. Please understand that while the 23 issues linked above were prepared with the intention of distributing them electronically, earlier issues were originally prepared only in hard-copy, so the available PDF files consist entirely of scanned images and tend to be bigger files. The complete set of MN issues can also be obtained on CD-ROM by sending $3.00 to Pete Riegel, 3354 Kirkham Road, Columbus OH 43221; phone: 614-451-5617. Pete can also send a two-CD set for $5.00 containing the MN issues along with other historical material.
More on Measurement News history: MN began in 1982 as an informal newsletter distributed by Pete Riegel to fellow course measurers. It soon became an official RRTC publication and, over the years, has covered many of the developments in course measurement. Pete was editor for the first 115 issues (through Sept 2002); then, Jim Gerweck served as editor for issues #116 to #130 and Kevin Lucas was the editor for issues #131 to #133.
