Quotes from Champions:
Michael Wardian
On the race
“It was great. I just got back from some heat training in the Bahamas, where I was getting ready as a member of Team USA running the 100K world championships in Doha, Qatar. It was brilliant to come out and get a nice shakeout run before heading over to Doha on Tuesday. There was some great competition here. It was a local, hometown race for me. I am really super blessed to be here and thankful to all the sponsors and USA Track & Field for letting us come out and run today.”
On the course
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it last year, so this is my first experience and I loved it. I thought it was a beautiful course, and I know how it goes. I checked the course out before the start just to make sure I knew where all the turns were, and it was brilliant.”
Perry Shoemaker
On preparation for the race
“Actually, I’ve been doing most of my running on a treadmill and inside where it’s warm.”
