USATF announces roster for IAAF World Half and NACAC XC

 

INDIANAPOLIS -- 2018 USATF Cross Country champion Leonard Korir and 2018 USATF 15k Championships runner-up Jordan Hasay lead Team USATF into the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, set for Saturday, March 24 in Valencia, Spain.

 

Korir is coming off an impressive performance in which he outkicked fellow Olympian Galen Rupp to repeat as senior men’s champion at the USATF Cross Country Championships in 29:16.6. Four-time Olympian Bernard Lagat finished 15th overall and first in the 40-44 division at the Houston Half Marathon to make TeamUSATF, crossing the line in 1:02:00.

 

Jordan Hasay recently finished second at the 2018 USATF 15k Championships, crossing the line in 48:40 and placed eighth at the Houston Half Marathon in January, finishing in 1:08:38, just behind Molly Huddle’s American-record setting performance.

 

Ed Eyestone is the men’s team head coach with Katie McGregor leading the women’s contingent in Valencia.

USATF announces roster for NACAC XC Championships

 

INDIANAPOLIS -- USATF will send 11 women and 12 men to the NACAC Cross Country Championships, set for Saturday, February 17 in San Salvador. Team USATF’s roster features a women’s senior team of all top-ten finishers at the USATF Cross Country Championships and a men’s senior team with all top-fifteen finishers.

 

Highlighting the senior women’s team is fifth-place finisher at the USATF Cross Country Championships Emily Durgin and the fourth place finisher in steeplechase at the 2014 NCAA Championships Rachel Schilkowsky.

 

Leading the men’s team is third-place finisher at the USATF Cross Country Championships Stanley Kebenei, Joseph Gray who has been on 22 previous U.S. teams at a variety of international events, the 2004 NCAA 5000m Champion and 2005 NCAA 10,000m Champion Robert Cheseret and 2017 World Championships marathon team member and 15th place finisher at the 2012 World Half Marathon Championships Augustus Maiyo.

 

USATF Junior Cross Country champions Connor Lane and Ashley Tutt will lead the junior teams.

USATF announces roster for IAAF World Half and NACAC XC

University of Minnesota freshman Hunter Lucas earned a roster spot for the 2018 NACAC Cross Country Championships with a fourth-place finish in the Junior Men’s 8K race at the USA Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida on February 3. Lucas, a Fargo, ND native, will run the Junior Men's Race in San Salvador on Saturday, February 17.

Katie McGregor, who serves as USATF Minnesota's Women's LDR Chair, was named coach of the USA women's team that will compete at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championship in Valencia, Spain on Saturday, March 24.
