USATF Potomac Valley becomes first Champion of Community for .US Championships

INDIANAPOLIS — USA Track & Field’s Potomac Valley Association is the first Champion of the Community for the .US National Road Racing Championships, USATF announced Thursday.

The Champions of the Community program links businesses and organizations in the Metro DC and Northern Virginia areas and provides them with a unique platform to promote their brand and organization among thousands of runners.

Open to runners of all abilities, the .US National Road Racing Championships held November 17 in Alexandria, Va., will unite USA Track & Field members, regional road racers, fitness enthusiasts, weekend warriors and the best professional runners in the country.

The culminating event of USATF’s USA Running Circuit and USATF’s flagship road race, featuring $100,000 in prize money, the race offers an opportunity for everyone to test their limits and enjoy a scenic run through historic Alexandria.

“The Potomac Valley Association is honored to be the first organization to support the .US National Road Racing Championships as Champions of the Community,” said Association President George Harris. “The PVA is dedicated to advancing our sport in the Alexandria, Va.,  and Washington, D.C., area and we look forward to a great championship in November.  Our members are all Champions in their Communities.”

The Potomac Valley Association will act as an partner providing volunteers for the event and will promote the race to its members and associates.

USATF’s first wholly owned and operated race is a 12-kilometer (12 km) event providing a season-capping finale to the USA Running Circuit (USARC), a series of national-championship races that annually provides nearly $1 million in prize money to American runners. The purse for the .US Championships is $100,000.

All races in the .US National Road Reaching Championships feature a scenic course for runners of all abilities as well as a dog-friendly, post-race Festival at Oronoco Bay Park with food, refreshments, beer garden, and entertainment.  Field size is limited. Register now at uschampionships.us
