USATF Foundation announces 42 Youth Club Grant recipients

INDIANAPOLIS - The USA Track & Field Foundation Chairman Bob Greifeld and
Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced today it has awarded 42 youth grants to
track & field clubs throughout the country. The grants assist young male and female
athletes with expenses such as travel to meets, equipment, uniforms, awards and facility
rental.

“The Foundation continues to be committed to supporting youth track & field at the
grassroots level,” commented Jackovic. “Congratulations to all the grantees.”

The Foundation encourages youth track clubs and programs from all areas of the United
States to apply for financial assistance. The Foundation favors the use of grant money to
expand existing youth programs/clubs, to provide additional competitive opportunities
for children and to enhance the experience for all participants. Preference is given to
clubs that are based in low-income areas. It also favors programs that have a history of
solid financial management, multiple funding sources and community support. Allowable
expenses include equipment, uniforms, meet fees, travel, facility rental, staff and
volunteer training and outreach.

A total of $65,450 in grants has been approved to the following youth clubs:

  • Cross Country for Youth (NC), $2500

  • East Orlando Track Club (FL), $1000
  • East Orlando Track Club (MO), $2000
  • EKMW Track and Field Team (NY), $1500
  • Emerald Valley Track Club (OR), $1500
  • Evergreen Storm Track Club (WA), $1500
  • Evolution Track Club (NC), $1500
  • Garden State Track Club (NJ), $2000
  • Green Street School PTO (VT), $1500
  • Jeffersonville Track Boosters (IN), $1500

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and
innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities
for youth athletes, emerging elite athletes, distance training centers and anti-doping
education. The Foundation depends upon donations from its Board of Directors, major
gifts and from generous fans of track & field.

Elite athletes are supported by the Foundation via monetary grants, career counseling
(mentoring & jobs) and participation in Run With US! . Youth
athletes are supported via monetary grants to youth clubs.
