SACRAMENTO, Calif.Tickets for the 2014 USA Outdoor National Track & Field Championships are on sale, providing fans an early jump on the first national meet held in Sacramento since 2004.

USA Track & Field and the Sacramento Sports Commission announced that all-session tickets are available online at www.sacsports.com and at the Sacramento State box office.

The 2014 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held June 25-29 at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium. This marks the sixth time since 1968 that Sacramento has played host to the U.S. championships.

All-session tickets provide fans admittance for all four days of competition. Standard all-session tickets are priced from $50 to $125 for finish-line seats, with discounts available for children, military veterans and Sac State students.

“We’re offering affordable, family-oriented ticket prices,” said Sacramento Sports Commission Director Mike Sophia. “Sacramento has shown it can attract record crowds for major track and field events, and the pricing should make next year’s event very attractive to fans around the region, state and country. This is going to be a terrific event, and we want to fill the stands.”

Two-day and single-day tickets will go on sale in late Spring 2014. The Sacramento Sports Commission is investing $1.2 million to refurbish the track surface at Hornet Stadium, site of the 2000 and 2004 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials. Those were the two best-attended U.S. Trials in history, attracting nearly 360,000 spectators.

Site of the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Trials for Track & Field, Sacramento has hosted several prominent track & field events recently, including the 2011 World Masters Championships, 2010 USA Masters Championships, 2010 USA Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships and 1995 USA Outdoor Championships. Sacramento also has been home to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007. The 1968 AAU Championships featured the “Night of Speed” in which the world record in the men’s 100-meter dash took a wholesale beating. The 1981 nationals showcased the dizzying talents of a rising star named Carl Lewis. The 1995 USA Championships featured Michael Johnson’s wins in the 200 and 400 meters, presaging his similar double at the 1996 Olympics in Los Angeles.
