Team USATF ready for IAAF World Half Marathon Championships


VALENCIA, Spain -- USATF Cross Country champion Leonard Korir and two-time Olympic medalist Bernard Lagat will lead Team USATF men into the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, set for Saturday, March 24 in Valencia, Spain. Becky Wade will lead the women’s team after Jordan Hasay and Natosha Rogers withdrew.


Korir is coming off an impressive performance in which he outkicked fellow Olympian Galen Rupp to repeat as senior men’s champion at the 2018 USATF Cross Country Championships in 29:16.6. Four-time Olympian and two-time world champion Bernard Lagat finished 15th overall and first in the 40-44 division at the Houston Half Marathon to make Team USATF, crossing the line in 1:02:00.


On the women’s side, Becky Wade enters the World Half Championships with the team’s fastest time of 2018, a personal best of 1:11:15 in a twelfth place finish at the Houston Half Marathon. Elaina Tabb is coming off a seventeenth place finish at the Houston Half with a personal best time of 1:12.29. Emma Bates last competed at the Doha Half Marathon in January, crossing the line with a personal best, 1:12:52


Ed Eyestone is the men’s team head coach with Katie McGregor leading the women’s contingent in Valencia.
