Taylor Ewert tallies third American U20 record at the USA vs. Canada Junior Race Walk Match to take USATF Athlete of the Week

8/15/2018

Taylor Ewert (Beavercreek, OH) broke her third U20 American record (pending) of the season with a win in the women’s 5km road race walk at the USA vs. Canada Junior Race Walk Match in Toronto, Ontario.

The 16-year-old walking wonder set American Junior records (pending ratification) of 22:38.16 in the 5km track race walk and 45:57.81 in the 10km race walk earlier this season before directing her focus to the dual championship in Toronto. She walked away from the pack and shattered race walking sensation Maria Michta-Coffey’s 2005 record of 23:44.00 as she crossed the finish line in 23:07.07. As she heads into her junior year Ewert will shift gears to start training for her high school cross country season.
