9/20/2013

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field and .US on Friday announced training plans to help novice and intermediate-level runners reach the finish line in top form at the .US National Road Racing Championships, to be held Nov. 17 in Alexandria, Va.

Open to all runners of all abilities, the .US National Road Racing Championships will unite USA Track & Field members, regional road racers, fitness enthusiasts, weekend warriors and the best professional runners in the country.

Written by USATF sport scientists, the nine-week “Get Started With .US” training plans include training plans for the race’s 5 km and 12 km distances, catering to two different levels of runners, depending on experience and fitness level.

“The vast majority of athletes running in road races in this country are running for fitness and the sense of community the sport offers,” said Alex Berry, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Services for Neustar, which operates the .US domain name on behalf of the United States Department of Commerce. “We are pleased to team up with USA Track & Field to help provide a roadmap for everyone, regardless of fitness level, to run successfully at the .US National Road Racing Championships.”

“Whether it is someone hoping to get to the finish line of the 5 km or someone trying to set a personal record at either distance, these training plans provide a plan for runners to achieve their goals,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel.
