RUNJUMPTHROW website provides new tools, essential information

INDIANAPOLIS — USA Track & Field (USATF) on Thursday officially launched the full website for RunJumpThrow, its flagship youth activity partnership with The Hershey Company that provides a turnkey, hands-on physical activity program for kids ages 7-12.

Designed to get children excited about physical activity by introducing them to basic running, jumping and throwing skills through track and field, the RunJumpThrow (RJT) program and website ( provides a portal for educators, event organizers and families to access key tools related to the program, including:

  • An overview of RJT – what it is, what it does and how it positively impacts children

  • The latest news about the program, including links to videos, press releases and media coverage

  • Registration for event organizers – a three-step process that includes registration, information on the USOC Safe Sport initiative and background screenings

  • Excerpts from the RunJumpThrow lesson plan and instructional DVD

  • Searchable RunJumpThrow event calendar

  • Frequently asked questions

Once officially registered, event organizers will be able to download the full RJT lesson plan and instructional video, produced in conjunction with SHAPE America-Society of Health and Physical Educators (formerly AAHPERD). Lesson plan options include a half-day, stand-alone event as well as a six-week lesson plan appropriate for use in schools and parks & recreation programs. Included in the lesson plans are up to 20 activity stations, ranging from warm-up to walking, running, jumping, throwing and even hurdling over pizza boxes. All officially registered, single-day RunJumpThrow events will be sanctioned and insured by USATF.

The site also will feature a searchable event calendar for participants and information for adults about the program. Local events begin in 2015.

USATF and Hershey unveiled RunJumpThrow in April. Last month, USATF announced a partnership between RunJumpThrow and local SUBWAY® restaurants in parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia encouraging kids to get active and stay healthy through the SUBWAY® “Fit for Life Challenge” program.
