Elite Fields Announced for Fifth Avenue Mile

NEW YORK -- The field was announced for the NYRR Fifth Avenue Mile, contested on Saturday, September 13. The domestic talent in the men’s and women’s professional fields is deep, with defending champion Jenny Simpson leading the way on the women’s side and looking for a three-peat. Another competitor to keep an eye on is teenage phenom Mary Cain, who is making her professional road race debut and is coming off a World Junior Championship at 3,000 meters.

For the men, Matt Centrowitz will look to add to his trophy case after claiming the title in 2012. All 12 U.S. men slated to compete boast sub-4 miles in their careers.
