INDIANAPOLIS -- 2016 USATF Masters Athlete of the Year Irene Obera (Fremont, California) was named World Masters Athletics (WMA) Female Athlete of the Year on Tuesday as a result of her outstanding track season, in particular setting two W80 world records at WMA Championships in Perth, Australia last November. Australian race walker Andrew Jamieson was named WMA Male Athlete of the Year.

The 83-year-old legend dashed to a new world record in the 80m hurdles in 18.70, as well as the heptathlon with 6071 points.
