2008 Olympic gold medalist honored for community involvement
CINCINNATI -- 2008 Olympic gold medalist Mary Wineberg
is being honored at the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Women’s Sports Association Awards Dinner on Monday, April 28. Wineberg is being named the Master’s Sportswoman of the Year. Since her retirement from the sport, Wineberg has been incredibly active in Girls on the Run, which inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Wineberg is a 2009 inductee into the University of Cincinnati Athletics Hall of Fame. The award is given to accomplished women 25 and over who demonstrate super athletic achievement, community involvement and outstanding leadership qualities.
Phillips and Clark in Fiji as SportsUnited Envoys
Olympic gold medalist and World Champion Dwight Phillips
and three-time Olympian Hazel Clark
are representing USATF in Suva, Fiji as SportsUnited envoys this week. They will culminate their stint on the islands working with young athletes at the annual Coca-Cola Track Meet to be held April 23-24. The U.S. Embassy will be partnering with the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee, Fiji Paralympic Committee, Gospel School of the Deaf and Athletics Fiji.

Athletes serving their communities through Athletes for Hope
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Kori Carter
is one of many USATF elite athletes volunteering in their hometowns and training communities by joining forces with Athletes For Hope, a non-profit organization with a deep commitment to giving back to make a difference in the world. Carter volunteers weekly at the Riekes Center for Human Advancement.

, who advances the KEEN DC mission by facilitating athletic activities on a one to one basis for children with special needs.
