Men Win Pan Am Race Walk Silver

INDIANAPOLIS – Olympian
John Nunn
led the USA to a second place finish in the men’s 20 km race at the 15th Pan Am Race Walk Cup held in Medellin, Colombia on Sunday.
Nunn from San Diego, Cali., was joined on the silver medal winning squad by
Patrick Stroupe
and
Dan Seriani.
Mexico claimed the top spot with 12 points, while Team USA scored 39 points, to edge out Ecuador for second place. This is the best finish by a USA Men's squad since 2003 when the men took the 20 km title in Tijuana, México.
Nunn placed 11th overall out of the 30 starters from 14 different countries in a time of 1:31:26. Stroupe (Armstrong, Mo.) was 12th overall in 1:33:09. Seriani (Rochester, N.Y.) the youngster of the squad at 20 years of age, placed 16th in 1:34:50.
In the senior women’s 20 km race,
Erin Gray
(Eugene, Ore.) lead the U.S. squad with a 16th place finish in 1:44.23.
Solomiya Login
(Philadelphia, Penn.) clocked a 1:49:28 for 18th place,
Erin Talcott
(Owego, N.Y.) took 20th place in 1:51:51, and
Susan Randall
finished in 22nd place in 1:53:43.
Tyler Sorensen
(San Diego, Calif.) and
Alex Chavez
represented the U.S. in the junior men’s 10 km race walk. Sorensen finished in the top half of the field to take tenth place in 46:25:45. Chavez walked to a time of 49:12:55 to finish 17th.
Erica Shaver
(Greenville, S.C.) lead the junior women’s squad in the 10 km race with a 13th place finish in 57:12.
Maite Moscosco
(Longwood, Fla.) finished in 58:32 to take 17th place, and she was followed by her teammate
Nicolette Sorensen
(San Diego, Calif.) who clocked a 59:18 in 18th place.
