Great North CityGames Available On Demand from; Great North Run Live Sunday Morning


NEWCASTLE, UK -- The Puma Great North CityGames were a smashing success Saturday, as thousands packed into the Quayside for the two-hour event.


With exclusive U.S. broadcast rights, held the coverage of Saturday morning’s races and all events are now available on demand.


The Great North weekend is just beginning, as also holds exclusive U.S. broadcasting rights to the Great North Run Sunday morning. The race begins at 5:00 a.m. ET with pre-race coverage kicking off at 4:30 a.m. ET.


The field is headlined by Olympic champion Mo Farah of Great Britain, with Americans Arturs Bareikis and Kevin Cook looking to challenge. On the women’s side, Annie Bersagel and Carrie Dimoff will represent the U.S. in the elite field Sunday.


Saturday’s events saw two American victors, as 2012 Olympic champion Jenn Suhr edged out recent Diamond League winner Fabiana Murer in the women’s pole vault, clearing 4.52m/14-10 for the victory Saturday.


2012 Paralympic silver medalist Richard Browne cruised to victory in the men’s IPC 100 meters, taking the win in 10.94. Even more impressive is that Browne recovered so quickly from breaking his own world record in the 200 meters T44 in Brussels Friday evening. Browne was victorious in Friday’s race in 21.62 and has his sights set on breaking the 21-second barrier.


Garrett Heath turned in a top-three finish in the men’s mile, crossing the finish in 4:01.22. Mike Rodgers had a quick turnaround after his Diamond League silver yesterday, earning the runner-up spot in the men’s 150 meters in 15.33.


Americans Brianna Rollins, Dawn Harper-Nelson and Jasmin Stowers went 2-3-4 in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, while Allyson Felix took third in the women’s 150 meters in 16.92 following her Diamond League crown at 200 meters yesterday.
