Da’mira Allen’s triple gold at Youth Indoors earns her USATF Athlete of the Week

Da’mira Allen (Chester, Pennsylvania) was a triple gold medalist at the USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships at Staten Island’s Ocean Breeze facility to earn USATF Athlete of the Week.


Allen, who holds several world age-group records, won three USATF Youth Indoor golds for the second year in a row, setting meet records in the girls’ 9-10 age group in the 400m (60.43), 800m (2:26.03) and 1500m (5:00.24).


Other notable performances from the weekend:

Molly Huddle — Huddle dominated the USATF women’s 15K championships in Jacksonville, winning by 50 seconds over Jordan Hasay in 47:50.

Leonard Korir — Korir defended his USATF 15K title in Jacksonville, pulling away from Sam Chelanga to cross the line first in 43:06, winning by nine seconds.

Michael Norman — Norman broke the world indoor record in the 400m with a 44.52 at the NCAA Championships, and then anchored his USC 4x400 team to victory in a world best 3:00.77, one second faster than the world record set by Poland at the World Indoors.

Kendall Ellis — Ellis set an American indoor record of 50.34 in the women’s 400 at the NCAA Championships, and anchored USC to a 3:27.45 win in the 4x400.

Elijah Hall — Hall was a double sprint gold medalist at the NCAA Championships, as the Houston senior set an American indoor record of 20.02 in the 200m after taking the 60m in 6.52.

Karissa Schweizer — Missouri’s 3,000m/5000m winner became only the fourth woman ever to win the distance double at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
