Columbus to host USA Track & Field's Annual Meeting in 2017 & 2018

10/2/2014

COLUMBUS (OCTOBER 2, 2014) – USA Track & Field announced Columbus, Ohio, as the 2017 and 2018 host city for the USATF Annual Meeting.  The four-day event gathers more than 1,300 of the sport’s officials, coaches, administrators, athletes and supporters each year.

The yearly forum, traditionally held the week following Thanksgiving, charts the future of the sport in policy, national team and championship site selections, electing national officers and recognizing achievements. It also presents the opportunity for USATF members to meet the sport’s top stars, and the Expo Show offers national sponsors, equipment suppliers and other service providers the opportunity to showcase their organizations.

This announcement comes after USATF awarded Columbus the Half Marathon Championships to be held in May within The Ohio Health Capital City Half Marathon in 2016 and 2017.

“We are excited to once again partner with the Greater Columbus Sports Commission as we bring another great set of events to Ohio’s capital city,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “With the 2017 and 2018 Annual Meetings, we look forward to showcasing the best or sport has to offer through elite competition at the half marathon championships and through our world-class convention.”

This meeting will generate more than 2,300 total hotel room nights each year, and the Hyatt Regency will be the host hotel.

“Columbus is proud to add to our history with USA Track & Field in hosting their Annual Meeting in 2017 and 2018,” Greater Columbus Sports Commission Executive Director Linda Shetina Logan said. “Our running community collaborated so well in showcasing our desire and capability to host the largest gathering of track and field conventioneers and we will work hard to roll out the red carpet to USATF and create the best experience possible.”
