Clubs take to Franklin Field for USATF National Club Track & Field Championships


PHILADELPHIA -- The USATF National Club Track & Field Championships are set for historic Franklin Field, home of the Penn Relays Carnival, for one day of packed track & field action on Saturday, June 25.

While clubs will be taking center stage Saturday, many athletes will be looking for U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field standards before Sunday’s deadline, as well as tune-ups ahead of the start of the Olympic Trials on June 30.

Many familiar names will take to the track Saturday, including Olympic 4x400m silver medalist Manteo Mitchell (Asheville, North Carolina) in the men’s 400m, Parapan Am Games gold medalist Mikey Brannigan (East Northport, New York) in the 1500m, and 4x800m American record holder Robby Andrews (Manalapan, New Jersey).

Kerri Gallagher (Belle Harbor, New York), Christina Epps (Bronx, New York) and Jernail Hayes (Petersburg, Virginia), who have all represented Team USA at IAAF Championships in the last two seasons, will compete Saturday, as well as two-time NCAA Champion and 11-time All-American at Villanova, Emily Lipari (Greenvale, New York), representing the B.A.A.

In addition to the open events, there are three masters races scheduled for Saturday, including the 800m for men and women, and a men’s masters 4x400m relay. Masters superstar Sonja Friend-Uhl will be competing in the open women’s 800m and 5000m.
