AJ Calloway of "Extra" to host USATF Black Tie & Sneakers Gala, Jordyn Rolling leads red carpet

NEW YORK - AJ Calloway, the co-host of TV's "Extra" entertainment newsmagazine program, will host USATF's Black Tie & Sneakers Gala on November 2 at The Armory Track & Field, USATF announced Friday. "BET Breaks" host Jordyn Rolling will host the Gala's red carpet show.

The Gala, which features the 2017 USATF National Track & Field Hall of Fame induction ceremony, will air November 8 on the Olympic Channel.

Calloway has been an established fixture of pop culture since his debut as the original co-host of BET's "106 & Park" in 2000, interviewing famous and up-and-coming athletes, music, film and television celebrities. He left the flagship music program in 2005.

Since joining "Extra," Calloway and the show have won an Outstanding Entertainment News Program Daytime Emmy in 2014 and another in 2016. Calloway brings a seasoned technique, charisma, style and down-to-earth personality to every project.

He is a graduate of Howard University and proud and active life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Calloway also established his own foundation, Building the Bridge, which offers scholarships and mentors for college students.

Rolling out the red carpet

Jordyn Rolling, best known as the current host of Viacom's digital news series "BET Breaks," will host the USATF Black Tie & Sneakers Gala red carpet show ahead of the evening ceremony, also to air on Olympic Channel.

Fitting with the theme of stars in festive attire and sneakers, Rolling will interview top athletes such as Emma Coburn, Allyson Felix and Justin Gatlin, 2017 Hall of Fame inductees, and celebrity presenters on their choice of footwear and favorite moments of the year.

Rolling is the former host and associate producer of Al Roker Entertainment's "BizWireTV" and the three-time Emmy Award-winning entertainment TV show "Mark at the Movies."

A former division I soccer player at VCU and Sacramento State, Jordyn received her master's degree in Multimedia Journalism from NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute in 2016.

The USATF Black Tie & Sneakers Gala is set to feature performances by V. Bozeman and celebrity presentations by Teyana Taylor, Machine Gun Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh and more. In addition to the National Track & Field Hall of Fame Class of 2017 induction ceremony, USATF will honor sports icons Carl Lewis with the USATF Legend Award and Kathrine Switzer with the USATF Pioneer Award.
