2019 USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships - Day 2 Recap


DURHAM, North Carolina -- Day two of the USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships saw athletes crowned national champions in the multis and 4x800m relays at Durham County Memorial Stadium.

The 2019 USATF National Youth Outdoor Championships will be broadcast live on Thursday, June 27 through Sunday, June 30 via USATF.TV.

It was a tight race in the girl’s 11-12 division pentathlon. Zoe Eastman-Grossel (Connecticut Hawks TC) led from the beginning scoring 758 points in the 80m hurdles. She went into the final event with a 163 point lead over Jordan Henderson (Rolesville Lightning). Henderson placed third in the 800m with a 2:49.96, scoring 252 more points than Eastman-Grossel to finish in first with 1,907 points. 

In the women’s 17-18 division heptathlon, Hayden Colfax (Unattached) led the competition at the start of the day and finished as the national champion with 3,839 points. Colfax won the 100m hurdles (16.10) and the long jump (4.85m/15-11) which allowed her win be over 300 points. 

John Swabik (Chautauqua Striders) won the boy’s 15-16 division decathlon with 5,317 points. Swabik clocked 11.71 in the 100m, cleared 1.80m in the high jump and wrapped up the competition with a 4:38.06 1500m.
