INDIANAPOLIS – The 2016 USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor Championships have been moved to Millersville University in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USATF announced Monday.
The meet will be held June 28-July 3.
Millersville was selected as the new host site after an exhaustive examination of its facilities, Chryst Field Biemesderfer Stadium. Considered among the best in Central Pennsylvania, the track facility was constructed in 2005 and includes regulation jump and vault areas, a new steeplechase pit and stadium lighting. The field features facilities for high/triple jump, javelin, shot put, and discus/hammer.
Millersville University is located in Millersville, Pennsylvania, approximately 40 miles southeast of Harrisburg and 80 miles west of Philadelphia. The USATF National Office will serve as local organizing committee of the meet.
The USATF Hershey Youth Outdoor Championships annually hosts several thousand athletes, ages 18 and under, competing for national titles. The weeklong event includes a Hershey Welcome Celebration cookout and carnival for athletes, their coaches and families. Millersville provides a location nearby to popular tourist attractions in Hershey, Pennsylvania, as well.
As previously announced, the 2016 USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships are slated for March 11-13 at the Ocean Breeze Track & Athletic Complex in New York, NY.
