The 2011 USA Cross Country Championships
in San Diego, Calif., on Saturday, February 5 and the USA Masters Half Marathon Championships
in Melbourne, Fla., on Sunday, February 6 will kick off the inaugural USATF Masters Long Distance Running Club Grand Prix
The year-long Grand Prix encompasses all nine of the 2011 USA Masters LDR Road and Cross Country Championships. Masters Men’s and Women’s Club Teams will accumulate points by finishing in the top 8 teams in the standard 10-year team age divisions at each event. Grand Prix Champions will be announced after the last event, the 2011 Club Cross Country Championships on Saturday, December 10 in Seattle. All Masters Club Team division Champions will receive a cash award of $500 and a Masters LDR Team Grand Prix National Championship banner.
Several clubs have indicated that they will divide their squads and have teams on opposite coasts for both Championships next weekend.
A reminder that a newly passed USATF Competition Rules change sets all Masters Road Championship teams to a maximum of five declared runners with the top three to score by total time. The Cross Country Team scoring rules did not change.
