COPENHAGEN -- Team USA is in Denmark and ready for the 2014 IAAF/AL Bank World Half Marathon Championships, beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 29 with the women’s race. The men’s half starts at 7:55 a.m. ET. The event will be streamed live on Universal Sports.
Team USA is highlighted on the men's side by Josphat Boit, Tyler Pennel and Matthew Llano, all who finished top-five at the USA Half Marathon Championships in January.
The best finish by an American male is Dathan Ritzenhein's bronze medal at the 2009 championships. The best men's team finish was fourth in 2009 and 2012.
On the women’s side, Lauren Kleppin had a career performance in Houston, turning in a runner-up finish at the USA Half Marathon Championships with a three-minute PR followed by podium-finisher Caitlin Comfort. Both women will represent the red, white and blue in Copenhagen.
Annie Bersagel is competing in her first event of the year but finished 2013 on a high note, winning the 2013 USA Women’s Marathon Championship and taking a top-10 finish in the inaugural .US National Road Racing Championships.
The best women's team finish is fourth in 2008.
