In the middle of their trip to Sopot, members of Team USA took a break from training to visit the Janusz Kusocinski Complex of Sports & General Education. The school, which has produced 20 Olympic champions, works with children from age five through the end of the secondary school to help them find their speciality in athletics and train to the best of their abilities.
Athletes begin rigorous training in gymnasium, or middle school, with 12 hours a week in their respective discipline. As they advance to the secondary school, or high school, the students dedicated 19 hours a week to their training, including Saturday and/or Sundays.
Members of Team USA had the opportunity to sit for a Q&A with some of the top athletes at the school before taking questions from the media, posing for pictures and getting a tour of the school and athletic facilities.
20 members of local and national media were present to promote the event. See all the pictures from the visit on USATF’s official Facebook page.
