About Chris
In 2012, as a 22-year-old junior at Texas A&M, Chris Humphreys had a season in the javelin that saw him finish first or second in every event he entered. He totaled four wins on the year that were highlighted by a victory at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and a Big 12 Outdoor title. He recorded a big personal best in the javelin of 81.86m/268-7 to win the Olympic Trials, but failed to achieve the Olympic “A” standard to secure his spot at the London Games. All the success equaled a No. 1 national ranking in 2012 from Track & Field News. The 2013 season saw him build upon that success, winning the SEC Outdoor Championship, NCAA Outdoor Championship and finishing as runner-up at the USA Outdoor Championships. In first three seasons competing with the Aggies, Humphreys picked up a total of 13 wins, which including three straight Big 12 Outdoor titles. Humphreys holds school records in both the javelin and discus for Laredo High School. Growing up he competed for seven years with Club Olympia being coached by Alex De Luna and set the AAU young men’s javelin record at 225-7.
