About Lauren
In one of the most compelling comeback stories of the year, Fleshman won the 2011 Aviva London Grand Prix in 15:00.57 only one week after finishing third from last in Stockholm. Fleshman suffered a stress reaction in her left foot earlier in the year and was unable to run until April. Her personal best of 14:58.48 is eight fastest American time ever. A 15-time All-American at Stanford, Fleshman has made an impressive transition into the professional ranks, becoming one of the United States' top middle distance runners. She was a human biology major at Stanford. Her hobbies include playing the piano and guitar, as well as songwriting and singing. She is married to 2001 Pac 10 steeplechase champion Jesse Thomas. Together with Thomas and Stephanie Rothstein, she is the founder and owner of Picky Bars, a gluten and dairy free energy bar. Fleshman is expecting her first child in the summer of 2013.
