About Miki
After a stellar career as a short sprinter, Barber grabbed her first spot individually for the World Outdoor Championships in 2011. At the 2007 World Outdoor Championships 4x100m, Barber received the baton in a virtual dead heat with Jamaica and blew the race open, giving Team USA a large lead, which Torri Edwards held on to, and the U.S. claimed gold in a world-leading 41.98. Barber broke the 28-year old Pan American Games record and set a personal best in winning the women's 100m in 11.02 seconds then went on to anchor the 4x100m relay to silver. Barber has a twin sister, Me’Lisa, who is the 2005 USA Outdoor 100m champ. The twins have been featured on Oxygen Sports and in Sports Illustrated. SI also tabbed Barber its Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the 2001 season. She goes by nickname of Miki. Her hobbies include ceramics. Favorite athlete is the late Florence Griffith Joyner. Barber was part of the 2000 Olympic 4x400m relay pool, but she did not compete in Sydney.
