About Deirdre
Consistently performing among the top ten best high jumpers in the U.S., Deirde Mullen grabbed her first top three ranking by Track & Field News following the 2011 season. A native of the East coast and standout for the University of Connecticut, Mullen earned a bachelor’s degree in human development/family relations and a master’s degree in counseling psychology while competing for the Huskies. She married American hammer thrower Michael Mai in the summer of 2011 and did not compete in the 2012 Olympic Trials as she was pregnant with the couple's first child.
