Volunteering with USATF

In order to volunteer with USATF, an individual must: 1) obtain a USATF membership; 2) successfully pass a USATF background screen; and, 3) successfully pass SafeSport training before having contact with athletes, and in any event, within sixty (60) days of assuming such position within USATF.  In addition to completing the above three requirements, a USATF volunteer must accept and adhere to the SafeSport Handbook.  Our goal is to create a healthy, supportive environment for all athletes.

Membership
Membership to USATF can be accessed here.  Your membership will be good for two years.  Please keep your membership number handy when accessing the background screen and SafeSport training below, as you membership number will tie both of these components back to your membership profile.  Membership must be completed first before moving on to the other requirements.

SafeSport Training

Through education, resources, and training, members of the sport community recognize, reduce, and respond to misconduct in sport.  SafeSport training consists of three lesson areas including, Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education, Emotional and Physical Misconduct, and Mandatory Reporting. General information about SafeSport is available at this link.
This training program is available free online to USATF members, and can be taken at your convenience.  The online training videos are approximately 90 minutes long.
Take the training online by going to this link.  Be sure to add your USATF membership number by selecting "USA Track and Field" under "Memberships" in order to receive completion credit.  For more information on how to log-in and complete training, please visit our FAQ page here.
