Media & Communications

An Intern in the Media & Communications Department is responsible for the following:

  • Assisting with daily written and oral communication to media and general public.
  • Searching for and identifying articles and daily clips for an email distribution list.
  • Field phone calls and help with communicating to the media.
  • Assisting with USATF publications, Internet production, and information distribution.
  • Maintain athlete files and photos.
  • Assist with researching and gathering information for press releases and News & Notes.
  • Writing and distributing press releases.
  • Interact and communicate with collegiate Sports Information Directors and agents to forward press releases to athletes' local media.
  • Periodically write athlete features for Fast Forward and other USA Track & Field publications.
  • Serve as Media liaison for select youth and junior events.
  • Update and write athlete biographies.
  • Assist with updating online calendar entries.
  • Coordinating press department mailings.

Requirements for the position include:

  • At least a college junior.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Coordinating press department mailings.

Note: All interns with USA Track & Field are eligible to receive a stipend.  School credit and parking assistance can also be arranged.
