Sariyu "Beka" Suggs
High Performance Programs Support Manager
Sariyu “Beka” Suggs was promoted to high performance programs manager in January of 2010. Her responsibilities include implementing and managing USATF/USOC athlete support and high performance programs. She also manages the information center, packet pick-up/credentialing area for USATF championship events, handles customer service hotlines related to on-line entry system for championships events, fields inquiries on various topics for elite athletes, coaches and athlete representatives and maintains the organization’s elite athlete database.
Suggs started as a temporary employee with USATF in August of 2002 before being hired as high performance programs coordinator in January of 2003 and eventually promoted into her current role.
Suggs earned a bachelor’s degree in textiles apparel and merchandising from Indiana State University in Terre Haute in 2000 and a master’s degree in public administration from the same school in 2002 where she also ran sprints for the Sycamores. A native of Gary, Ind., Suggs was also an Indiana state high school champion and is a member of the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame.
Suggs lives in Indianapolis with her husband, Rodney, and the couple has a six year old son named Jamehl. Her first name meaning “princess,” Suggs enjoys listening to music, dancing and spending time with friends and family.
