Chief Marketing Officer
A 17-year veteran of USATF, Geer became Chief Marketing Officer on August 1, 2016. As CMO, she oversees USATF’s integrated marketing and communications department (IMC), with primary responsibility for overseeing the planning, development and execution of the USATF’s marketing, communications, branding and community outreach initiatives. She also serves as the organization’s spokesperson and advisor to the CEO and board of directors.
As Chief Public Affairs Officer from 2011-2016, she and her IMC team worked to grow USATF’s sponsorship family and annual revenue. During that time, USATF signed twelve new partnership agreements, with The Hershey Company, Coaches Eye, Rosetta Stone, HOKA ONE ONE, Airweave, Chobani, UCS, University of Phoenix, Normatec, KT Tape, Garden of Life and Neustar. As CMO she continues to work in sponsor recruitment and fulfillment.
Geer joined USATF in 2000 as director of communications and was among the first to introduce electronic news distribution in the U.S. Olympic and national governing body family. In nine years in that role, she was featured in PR Week for her work and nearly tripled the size of the USATF communications department, broadening its reach from a small number of print reporters to thousands of media worldwide.
Geer came to the USATF staff as director of communications in 2000 from Knight Ridder/Tribune in Washington, D.C., where she was an editor on the national news wire and a sports columnist. Her work at KRT appeared in the New York Daily News, Orlando Sentinel and other publications around the country. Her journalism experience in the 1990s included working as an award-winning sports writer covering Olympic and women’s sports. She served as a production assistant for NBC at the 1996 Olympic Trials and Olympic Games and 1999 World Outdoor Championships.
An NCAA scholarship athlete in track and cross country, Geer earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in U.S. intellectual history from the University of Arkansas, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude.
