GAMES COMMITTEE CHAIR REPORT 2010

The N= ational Masters Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2010 were both highly successfu= l. The indoor meet in Boston was the largest = in Boston’s history and the outdoor meet in Sacramento with over 1400 athletes was = the largest our championship has seen at an outdoor championship. This is an amazing statistic due to the current state of our economy. Masters track and field continues to grow.

The G= ames Committee consisting of Gary Snyder, Rex Harvey, Sandy Pashkin, Len Krsak, Carroll DeWeese and myself have worked tirelessly so that our championships are first class. We have purchased four lanes of 27” hurdle= s with money from the surcharge fund and more weights and Javelins are in the work= s. We are constantly marketing our championships around the country so that we have more bidders and stiffer competition in the bid process. We could use = more bids for indoor championships so if anyone knows of a facility or an association that is interested please let Mike<= /st1:PersonName> Traverse or myself know.

As ma= ny of you already know USATF specifically Masters Track and Field have partnered with= the National Senior Games NSG to have our games committee run the Track & F= ield portion of the NSG with a fee being paid by them to Masters T & F. This should make their event run smoother as we will run under our rules with a sanction so records can be set at their event. Along those lines we will bo= th promote Masters T&F sharing resources as to marketing and promotion. Th= is should help promote both events into bigger and better games.

Where= possible we will continue exhibition events and update our championships along the line= s of WMA so our events parallel events at world championships. The Games Committ= ee appreciates all your support and will continue to work for you, our athlete= s.
